Agosto 2026 El Amor en Acción a Través del Río
A LITURGY OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND REMEMBRANCE
LITURGIA DE RENDICIÓN DE CUENTAS Y MEMORIA
(Musica)
Necesitado
Me encuentro, Señor
Ayúdame a ver, yo quiero saber
Lo que debo hacer
Muestra me el camino
Que debo seguir
Señor, por mi bien, yo quiero vivir
Un día a la vez
(CORO) Un día a la vez, mi Cristo
Es lo que pido de ti
Dame la fuerza para vivir
Un día a la vez
Ayer ya paso,
Mañana, quizás no vendrá
(Musica)
Tú ya viviste
Entre los hombres
Tú sabes, Señor, que hoy está peor
Es mucho el dolor
Hay mucho egoísmo
Y mucha maldad
Señor, por mi bien, yo quiero vivir
Un día a la vez
(CORO) Un día a la vez, mi Cristo
Es lo que pido de ti
Dame la fuerza para vivir
Un día a la vez
Ayer ya paso,
Mañana, quizás no vendrá
Ayúdame hoy
Yo quiero vivir
un día a la vez
Un día a la vez
(CORO) Un día a la vez, mi Cristo
Es lo que pido de ti
Dame la fuerza para vivir
Un día a la vez
Ayer ya paso,
Mañana, quizás no vendrá
Ayúdame hoy
Yo quiero vivir
un día a la vez
un día a la vez
1. Remembrance & Systemic Truth /Memoria y Verdad Sistémica
This reading honors those who have lost their lives in Maverick County and names the injustice, corruption, and systemic neglect that compound the tragedy of the recent floods.
Leader:
We gather along the Rio Grande to name those lost in Maverick County. We grieve every life cut short in these waters, and we name the truth: many were not lost by chance, but by human neglect, political cruelty, and greed that treats human life as disposable. We mourn the devastating floods and the failures of infrastructure born from corruption. When leaders line their pockets while neglect destroys homes and takes lives, the land itself cries out for truth.
Congregation:
“Administer justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor anyone who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the foreigner, the orphan, or the widow.” (Jeremiah 22:3 | NRSVue)
Leader:
We raise our voices because staying silent makes us complicit. We stand on this shore to shine a light on every hidden action that causes our neighbors to suffer.
All:
We refuse to look away. We honor those we have lost by standing against the greed that put them in harm's way.
CANCION Buscad Primero El Reino de dios / Seek Ye First

Musica
Busca primero el reino de Dios
Y su perfecta justicia
Y lo demás añadido será
Alelu, aleluya.
Pedid, pedid, y se os dará;
Buscad, buscad, y hallaréis,
Llamad, llamad, y se os abrirá.
Alelu, aleluya
Seek ye first the kingdom of God
And His righteousness;
And all these things shall be added unto
you.
Allelu, Alleluia
Ask, and it shall be given unto you;
Seek, and ye shall find.
Knock, and the door shall be opened unto
you.
Allelu, Alleluia
2. Accountability & Speaking Truth to Power / Rendición de Cuentas y Hablar Verdad al Poder
This reading emphasizes our spiritual call to confront corrupt governance, demand transparency, and protect the most vulnerable in our borderlands.
Leader:
Power without accountability is a threat to every neighbor along this river. To those who govern in secret and profit from suffering, we say: your actions leave scars on real families and real communities.
Congregation:
“Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute. Speak out, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31:8–9 | NRSVue)
(Proverbios 31:8–9 | NVI)
Leader:
We raise our voices across this border to hold our leaders accountable. We demand transparency, protection, and reparations for the damage left behind by neglect and self-interest.
All:
We will not be silent while decisions made in high offices cost lives in our river and streets.
