(Musica)
Necesitado
Me encuentro, Señor
Ayúdame a ver, yo quiero saber
Lo que debo hacer
Muestra me el camino
Que debo seguir
Señor, por mi bien, yo quiero vivir
Un día a la vez
(CORO) Un día a la vez, mi Cristo
Es lo que pido de ti
Dame la fuerza para vivir
Un día a la vez
Ayer ya paso,
Mañana, quizás no vendrá
(Musica)
Tú ya viviste
Entre los hombres
Tú sabes, Señor, que hoy está peor
Es mucho el dolor
Hay mucho egoísmo
Y mucha maldad
Señor, por mi bien, yo quiero vivir
Un día a la vez
(CORO) Un día a la vez, mi Cristo
Es lo que pido de ti
Dame la fuerza para vivir
Un día a la vez
Ayer ya paso,
Mañana, quizás no vendrá
Ayúdame hoy
Yo quiero vivir
un día a la vez
Un día a la vez
(CORO) Un día a la vez, mi Cristo
Es lo que pido de ti
Dame la fuerza para vivir
Un día a la vez
Ayer ya paso,
Mañana, quizás no vendrá
Ayúdame hoy
Yo quiero vivir
un día a la vez
un día a la vez
1. Remembrance of the Vulnerable and the Waters of Life / Memoria de los Vulnerables y las Aguas de la Vida
Leader: We gather along the banks of the Rio Grande to lift up the memory of those whose lives were lost in August 2026, including Maria Sebastian and José Ramos, whose names and dreams are swallowed by the river's harsh currents. We also bear witness to systemic indifference, such as the federal appellate ruling on September 4, 2026, denying the constitutional right to clean drinking water for the residents of Jackson, Mississippi. When basic human survival—clean water and safe passage—is denied or commodified, the sacred human condition is desecrated.
Congregation: "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it." (Proverbs 3:27 NRSVue)
(Proverbios 3:27 | NVI)
Leader: We turn to the ancient cries of those who thirst and those who are crushed at the city gates, recognizing that our humanity is bound entirely to the defense of the afflicted.
All: "When the needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue fails with thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them." (Isaiah 41:17 | NRSVue)
CANCIÓN / SONG 2: Wake Now My Senses
1 Wake, now, my senses, and hear the earth call;
feel the deep power of being in all;
keep, with the web of creation your vow,
giving, receiving as love shows us how.
2 Wake, now, my reason, reach out to the new;
join with each pilgrim who quests for the true;
honor the beauty and wisdom of time;
suffer thy limit, and praise the sublime.
3 Wake, now, compassion, give heed to the cry;
voices of suffering fill the wide sky;
take as your neighbor both stranger and friend,
praying and striving their hardship to end.
4 Wake, now, my conscience, with justice thy guide;
join with all people whose rights are denied;
take not for granted a privileged place;
God’s love embraces the whole human race.
5 Wake, now, my vision of ministry clear;
brighten my pathway with radiance here;
mingle my calling with all who will share;
work toward a planet transformed by our care.
2. Confronting Power and Defending the Distressed / Confrontando al Poder y Defendiendo al Oprimido
Leader: In August 2026, we witnessed sweeping executive overreaches and record enforcement actions that treated human beings as administrative metrics rather than sacred creations. Power that operates in secret to displace and deport without justice is a direct assault on human dignity. We raise our voices against systems that punish the vulnerable and turn neighbor against neighbor.
Congregation: "Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy at the gate; for the Lord will plead their cause and despoil of life those who despoil them." (Proverbs 22:22-23 | NRSVue)
(Proverbios 22:22-23 | NVI)
Leader: The prophetic voice in scripture demands that we look directly at injustice and refuse complicity with the structures of oppression.
All: "Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream." (Amos 5:24 NRSVue)
CANCIÓN / SONG 3: If I Had a Hammer
1. If I had a hammer
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening
All over this land
I'd hammer out danger
I'd hammer out a warning
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land
2. If I had a bell
I'd ring it in the morning
I'd ring it in the evening
All over this land
I'd ring out danger
I'd ring out a warning
I'd ring out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land
3. If I had a song
I'd sing it in the morning
I'd sing it in the evening
All over this land
I'd sing out danger
I'd sing out a warning
I'd sing out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land, ooh
4. Well I got a hammer
And I got a bell
And I got a song to sing
All over this land
It's the hammer of justice
It's the bell of freedom
It's a song about love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land
It's the hammer of justice
It's the bell of freedom
It's a song about love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land
3. Sanctuary, Solidarity, and Radical Hope / Santuario, Solidaridad y Esperanza Radical
Leader: As a community grounded in sanctuary and remembrance, we reject the divisions drawn by walls, buoys, and exclusionary policies. We affirm that true security is found not in militarized borders, but in mutual aid, radical hospitality, and the shared bonds of human compassion across the Rio Grande.
Congregation: "Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute." (Proverbs 31:8 | NRSVue)
(Proverbios 31:8 | NVI)
Leader: Bound together by love that acts rather than speaks in empty words, we pledge to keep the vigil alive for justice, dignity, and peace.
All: "There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28 NRSVue)
Unidos Unidos
//Unidos, unidos,
en Su Nombre unidos//
//Pues en este mundo
paz y amor tendremos//
Unidos siempre unidos,
tomados de las manos,
iremos por el mundo cantándole a Dios.
La gloria de Jesús
al fin resplandecerá,
y al mundo llenará de su amor y de paz.
//Unidos, unidos,
en Su Nombre unidos//
//Pues en este mundo
paz y amor tendremos//
Unidos siempre unidos,
tomados de las manos,
iremos por el mundo cantándole a Dios.
La gloria de Jesús
al fin resplandecerá,
y al mundo llenará de su amor y de paz.
y al mundo llenará de su amor y de paz.
